Two Fine Days!

At last we had two fine days together and we finally managed to finish first cut silage. We had one field on The Lots left to do which we managed to cut, bale and wrap yesterday.

Now - there's only half of second cut left. There doesn't seem to be much of a break in the weather over the next few days. At least if it's raining we won't have to make A Difficult Decision on Thursday. It's Westmorland Show and I don't know which way we would turn if the weather was fit for silaging. As it is we'll be at the Show (which is guaranteed to be on despite any rain we've had or will get,) so if you're there come to the Cattle Lines to see one of the best displays of Dairy Shorthorns in the country.

Hello again - from the very wet and windy Isle of Arran. Just thought I'd drop you a few lines to say how relieved I was to find the blog as I thought the web site had been taken down permanently when I couldn't find it anywhere! We can sympathise with this summer's monsoon climate up here as we've already had winter mud for weeks. It's so bad that a farming neighbour is considering ploughing in his barley as he can't get the combine on the muddy field - let alone get the crop dried out enough in the first place. He says it's the first time he's seriously had to consider this option - and he's born and bred here. Desperate really with the price of fuel and fertilisers involved. Anyway, chin up, I'm looking forward to seeing some new pics of the girls when the website returns. May be we'll all have an Indian summer in October ... Regards from Zoƫ
